MP praises ‘great’ improvement at Dyson Perrins

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has praised staff and pupils at Dyson Perrins Academy after successive years of improvement at the Malvern school.

The MP toured the school with head teacher Stuart Wetson together with head girl Jess Fenwick and head boy James Neale. Harriett was also interviewed by the two pupils where they quizzed her for an article for the school newspaper on her role in Parliament.

Harriett commented:

“Stuart Wetson and his team have made great strides over the last couple of years and this summer’s exam results back up that view.

“Having toured the school, it is clear to me that the pupils are well engaged and I am sure that the school will keep building on these new strong foundations.

“The school has plenty of scope to expand and more parents are choosing to send their children to Dyson Perrins. With nine out of ten schools across the county now rated as good or outstanding, it is essential that we ensure Malvern students get the best possible chance to gain a strong education.

“I was also eager to repeat my message to Stuart that I will continue to press to secure a better funding deal for his – and all – Worcestershire schools to ensure the school is able to build on its recent success.”

Head teacher Stuart Wetson added:

“I am very grateful for the time that Harriett gave up from her parliamentary duties to visit us at Dyson Perrins. “I know how keen we all were to show the progress we have been making but I was also pleased to be able to discuss with her the financial challenges that head teachers in Worcestershire face in delivering the best possible education for our students.”
