West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has backed local businesses aiming to look abroad for expansion at an export seminar held today (Friday February 26). The MP spoke at a gathering of more than 30 major local businesses hoping to increase their export capability. The event was run by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and UK Trade and Investment to advise local companies on export opportunities. Experts from local lawyers Harrison Clark and HSBC were on hand to guide companies on their path to international success. Harriett commented: “Export is one of the Government’s key ambitions and we hope to have 100,000 new companies exporting by the end of the decade. “There are some fabulous local businesses already leading the way such as Biotech International which sells disinfectant products all over the world – and has just come back with an order from Columbia to help combat the Zika virus. “It was great to be able to talk to local companies about their plans to export and spread the word about ‘World Class Worcestershire’. “I welcome the efforts of the UK Trade and Investment team to offer expert advice and hope that we get to celebrate many more success stories over the coming weeks and months.” Photo: At the export event at Sixways (l-r) are UKT&I’s Sally Stevenson and Linda Smith with Harriett Baldwin MP
