Harriett Baldwin tells MPs that the right time for a referendum was on the Lisbon treaty. Harriett Baldwin (West Worcestershire) (Con): Does my hon. Friend agree that the right time to have a referendum was on the Lisbon treaty, which was in all three parties’ 2005 manifestos? Frankly, I would have enjoyed campaigning for a no vote to that treaty, rather than watching the previous Prime Minister surreptitiously go down to Lisbon and sign it virtually in secret. Mr Baron: I am sure that the majority in the House can agree with that view. | Hansard
